We were invited to MNO’s wrap-up celebration for their 2023 Métis Rights Conference – “The Soirée at the Soo” – and we couldn’t have been prouder.
This was a banner year for Métis, with the 20th anniversary of the Supreme Court of Canada ruling in R. v. Powley case, the 30th anniversary of the Métis Nation of Ontario (MNO), and the 40th anniversary of the Métis National Council (MNC). The Powley decision created a legal framework for the restoration of constitutionally protected Métis rights.
