This Indigenous Peoples Day, we travelled to Huntsville, Ontario to perform and teach Indigenous dance.
We were originally slated to perform outdoors overlooking the water at River Mill Park, but Mother Earth had other plans – rain. Instead, we took the stage at Huntsville’s beautiful 408-seat Algonquin Theatre, which is why you can see the masking taped correction on the sign.
Sharing the bill with Amanda Rheaume and our friend and Y4YCanada collaborator Akina Ohlman, we treated the audience to 5 Métis jigging performances before inviting them to stand up from their seats and learn a basic routine.
We want to thank Joyce Crone for the invitation and support, Dan Watson for event logistics, and Catherine Cole who kept our chocolates and baked goods cooling in her store.
On the way home, We made a couple of fun stops!
