Dancing, Fundraising, and Community at MNC's 2025 AGA

We were honoured to attend the Métis National Council’s 2025 Annual General Assembly in Ottawa as both vendors and performers. Being invited into this space, alongside Métis leadership, citizens, and community members from across the homeland, meant a great deal to us.

As vendors, we brought our handmade Indigenous chocolates and baked treats. We’re happy (and honestly still a bit amazed) to say that we sold out. Every dollar raised is going directly back into community through our Youth4Youth Canada initiatives, including Kîšâc cultural workshops and Talk Overdose education sessions. Fundraising like this helps us cover Elder honoraria, materials, and space so youth can access culture and care without barriers.

As performers, we had the opportunity to share Métis jigging with AGA attendees. We offered several jigging performances throughout the event, and the energy in the room reminded us why we dance: to celebrate who we are and to keep our culture alive and visible.

The MNC AGA brought together important conversations about Métis governance and priorities for the future. We were grateful to contribute in the way we know best: through movement, music, and community presence.
