We had so much fun celebrating culture with the next generation of jiggers! By mentoring Métis youth, we are not only showing steps or traditions, but also motivating our youth to feel a deeper connection to our culture and to the traditions of our ancestors.
Connection to culture is crucial in instilling pride and confidence. Through jigging we are engaging Métis youth to embrace their identity in a supportive environment.
Despite little arms and legs moving in opposite directions to ours, it was truly heartwarming to see the expressions of joy on faces and hear the sound of laughter as we progressed from step-to-step.
