We had a wonderful time performing at the Bytown Museum in Ottawa as part of the National Trust for Canada's celebration marking 50 years of the World Heritage Convention in Canada.
In addition to performing Métis jigging, we shared a brief presentation about Métis history and culture, taught the audience how to play the spoons, and invited everyone learned basic Métis jigging steps followed by a couple of fun fancy steps. It was great to see so many people joining in, including members of the National Trust team!
The afternoon also featured fascinating conversations with World Heritage experts and wonderful live Celtic music, making it a great celebration of Canada's diverse heritage and traditions.
A big thank you to the Bytown Museum and the National Trust for Canada for inviting us to be part of this special event. We always appreciate opportunities to share Métis culture through music, dance, and hands-on participation.
