Association of Municipalities of Ontario

We use Métis jigging and storytelling to keep our traditions alive—and to invite others to learn with us. It’s always about connection, history, and pride.

We were honoured to perform at the Association of Municipalities of Ontario’s annual conference. Getting that invitation meant a lot to us as two young Métis women sharing our culture on our own terms. It felt like a real step toward reconciliation—proof that municipal leaders are willing to listen, learn, and celebrate Indigenous culture alongside us.

The room was full of decision-makers from across Ontario, and you could feel the curiosity and respect as we danced. Events like this matter: they let people experience culture directly, not just read about it in a report or policy document. They remind everyone that Indigenous traditions aren’t artifacts of the past—they’re living, thriving, and worth protecting.

Moments like these give us hope. They show that when communities come together with openness and humility, we can build more respectful relationships and a stronger future.
