On Saturday, we were invited to Rideau Hall to perform at the Governor General’s Winter Celebration.
This was our second year performing at this event, which is an official part of Ottawa's Winterlude festival. Austria, Finland, Norway, and many other embassies were on site to run family-friendly activities for attendees. We performed three sets featuring our traditional dances, with special guest appearances by our Y4Y colleague Akina Ohlman and our Kîšâc Junior Jiggers.
We were grateful for Elders and Knowledge Keepers Senator Parm Burgie and Veda Weselake who provided opening and closing prayers and smudging. Thank you to everyone who braved the minus-twenties to spend the day with us.
